Cool Chris & Motor City Drum Ensemble.
Check it out!
De 10 van ... Cool Chris
1. Ace & The Sandman - Let Your Body Talk - Saber
2. Ricardo Miranda - Black Acid - Hour House Is Your Rush
4. Gemini - Moment Of Insanity - Planet E Classics
Mijn track is 'Crossing Mars (remix)’. Damn!
5. Tevo Howard - Crystal Republic - Hour House Is Your Rush
7. Jackmaster Curt - Its A Mans World - White
Obscure eind jaren 80 release, recent opnieuw uitgebracht. 'When a man says house, you house' Sick!
8. Paul Bennet - Backbreaker - Modernista
9. KiNK - Psyche Funk - Under Tones
10. Kasso - One More Round (Knuckles Mix) - Haristol
Motor City Drum Ensemble
Last 10 records I bought: While in Japan & Jakarta, I found some great and truly rare, special records, I thought lets not only post the latest "Hot" stuff.
1. Shamek Farrah/Sonelius Smith - World of the children (Strata East)
Great spiritual/modal Jazz, Shamek`s records always have these Dolphy-like
out-of-tune horns that i just completly fall for.
2. Joel Fairstein - Umbra (Private Pressing)
Never seen/heard of this before. Not great all the way through, but 2 tracks really shine, with nice Fender Rhodes action and some decent brakebeats.
3. Appendix - Space Trip (Amigo)
"All the colours are changing".. Perfect spring soundtrack, and for a Swedish band (no native english) the vocals sound surprisingly good. A beauty!
4. D.J. Rogers - S/T (Shelter)
Had a nice little dig through the Jakarta record market together with Stefan & Daniel Best of Jazzanova, its crazy how much black soul/funk/disco stuff can be found there for literally nothing. I`ve been after that DJ Rogers record for quite a while,
so it was nice to finally find it in the field.
5. The Bethlehem Progressive Ensemble - S/T (Private Pressing)
"Call to Worship" has first been found by (who else) Gilles Peterson, and since I ve
heard it on his show a few years ago, i ve been after this record. Thank you Disk Union!
6. In Sync - "Storm" (Irdial)
My second copy of this rare early Techno Jam i ve found for less than 5 euro.
This is one of the most tripped out records i would play in my sets, and it works a "storm" if played at the right time.
7. Kink - "E79" (Ovum)
Just got the promo of this and what can i say? KINK is the man. "E79" has everything a good house song needs.. Punchy oldschool drums, dramatic buildup and then.. what a beautiful chord melody. Sick.
8. Heaven & Earth - "Prescription EP" (Running Back)
Big up to Gerd for keeping things high quality!
9. Dance Lessons - EP (CITI Records)
Although this is a bit of a more cheesy Burrell, i still love it and have been constantly
playing it throughout my asia tour. Baby, Baby-Baby.. Give me all you ve got!
10. V.A. - And suddenly it was morning (Smallville)
The smallville boys rockin it proper. Nice package all around!
Upcoming gigs:
I’m really looking forward to my little Netherlands ‘Tour’ this weekend. And after that its all over Europe again. No Miami for me this year, but i`ll be in the states in autumn.
Keeping me busy:
First of all, the whole travelling, party nights etc takes up a LOT of time.
Then, I still work on a few remixes before I can start working on own stuff again. And thirdly, I`m currently relocating to Berlin, so I m half-time in Berlin without the studio at the moment, means there is less time to do stuff. But watch out, the winter will bring some new tracks!
