Adam Freeland mixt de nieuwe Global Underground

Breakbeat koning Adam Freeland heeft GU 32 voor zijn rekening genomen. Als stad heeft de Brit Mexico uitgekozen. De dj mixt rock, breaks, house en minimal door elkaar.

Adam Freeland is een van de boegbeelden van de breakbeat scene. Nu zijn de breaks wel zijn voornaamste genre, maar de Britse dj heeft zich altijd bediend van veel meer stijlen en invloeden. Een flirt met rock en hiphop is de man niet vreemd. Op zijn laatste mix cd, die hij maakte voor het befaamde label Global Underground, stapt hij nog verder af van het genre waar hij groot mee werd. De tracklist bevat veel minimal, dub techno, Franse dance punk en breaks zijn bijna niet meer te vinden.

Adam zelf is daar niet rouwig om. "What I play is about attitude and sensibility rather than genre purism. The likes of Justice, Phones, SebastiAn and Evil Nine are the very spirit of breaks, and the finest that have existed date. Pure energy, raw punk attitude and high production value that first excited me about genre." De dj heeft zijn vleugels uitgeslagen.
